Aleppo pine (Pinus halepensis, Pinaceae)

French: pin d'Alep
This is the most frequent pine species on Ibiza. Besides the stone pine (Pinus pinea, Ibicencan: pi ver) can be found, the seeds of which are eaten.
The essencial oils of pine needles have heaing properties for the mucous membranes, so serve against cough and cold. The needles are put in water which is made boil, then the vapour is inhaled.
